The Short Version
We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything stays on your device. No accounts, no tracking, no cookies. It's that simple.
Data Collection
What we collect
Nothing. Work Leave Planner is a client-side application that runs entirely in your web browser. We have no servers collecting your information, no databases storing your data, and no analytics tracking your behaviour.
What we don't collect
- Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- Usage data or analytics
- Device information
- Location data
- Your leave plans or calendar data
Local Storage
Work Leave Planner uses your browser's localStorage feature to save your preferences and leave plans. This is essential for the app to remember your data between visits.
What's stored locally on your device
- Your selected region (England & Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland)
- Year start month preference
- Annual leave allowance
- School holidays you've marked
- Leave days you've booked
- Blocked days you've marked
- Partner's leave days (if entered)
This data never leaves your device. It's stored in your browser and you can clear it at any time via the Settings menu or your browser's settings.
Cookies
We don't use cookies. Not for tracking, not for analytics, not for anything.
The only browser storage we use is localStorage (as described above), which is different from cookies and cannot be used to track you across websites.
Sharing Feature
When you use the "Share with Partner" feature, your leave data is encoded into the URL itself using compression. This means:
- The data travels directly from you to your partner via the link
- No data passes through any server
- We cannot see what you've shared
- The link is only as private as how you choose to share it (e.g., private message vs public post)
External Links
Work Leave Planner contains links to:
- Google Fonts - for loading the Outfit typeface
- PayPal - if you choose to support development via "Buy me a coffee"
- Google Calendar / Outlook - help links for importing calendar files
These external services have their own privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content or practices.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how this app handles data (unlikely given our privacy-first approach), we'll update this page with a new "Last updated" date.
Since we don't collect your email or any contact information, we can't notify you of changes directly. We recommend bookmarking this page if you'd like to stay informed.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can raise an issue on the project's GitHub repository.
